Growing up in Interior Alaska, I have been captivated by the striking Alaskan landscape since I was a child. Since then I have spent countless hours in the mountains and valleys that make this country so unique, and have a deep appreciation for the diverse and awe-inspiring terrain.
Through my studies in natural resource management I have similarly gained an appreciation for the power of GIS and spatial data, and value of leveraging technological solutions to produce more informed management decisions.
With the capabilities of modern UAS, I have been excited to connect these two interests, and to use aerial imaging as a tool to unlock the Alaskan landscape. UAS now provide essential images and data previously unattainable or cost-prohibitive, and allow for an intimate connection with the landscape. The marriage of GIS and UAS facilitates a more informed decision-making process from start to finish, and allows high quality analysis on a local scale.
